"Revolving boundaries": this is the title of the artist-in-residence-program promoted and sponsored by the GALLERIA DELL'ARCO in Italy and China.
The program is articulated as follows: each year two foreign artists will spend a period of study in Shanghai and two Chinese artists will be instead guests of the Italian gallery. There they will be requested to produce a site-specific works of art, with strong ties to the territory. At the end of the in-residence-program, the results of their artistic research will be shown in an exhibition.
The first foreign artist to be invited in Shanghai is Domenico Mangano, Italian, a renown presence on the national and international art scene.
The ideas of migration, rotation, and evolution, in their material as well as in their abstract acceptions, are all contained in the expression "Revolving boundaries", shaped on one of the key features of the global cultural transformations.
"Revolving boundaries" aims at investigating the territory through the foreigner and the occasional traveller's glance. The encounter between the territory and the outsider's cultural baggage and personal imaginary world, will allow him/her to gather suggestions and ideas to be transformed into a creation intended at debunking clichés.
Domenico Mangano uses, as a procedural way of research, live recordings of lived experiences that he translates into video images and photographs, most of which are presented in sequential series. His research combines - without distinction - social and private issues, distant contexts and nearby places, unknown people and people with whom the artist has close relationships, revealing a disenchanted look upon a reality made out of an ordinary exceptionality.

"Revolving Boundaries": è questo il titolo del programma di residenze d'artista promosso dalla Galleria dell’Arco che coinvolge entrambe le sedi in Italia ed in Cina.
Ogni anno, due artisti trascorreranno un periodo di studio a Shangai, e due artisti cinesi saranno ospiti della galleria italiana. Ivi produrranno un progetto ad hoc, concepito in stretta relazione con il territorio; una mostra, al termine di ogni residenza, presenterà al pubblico i risultati del lavoro.
Si parte con l’Italia: il primo nome è quello di Domenico Mangano, già da anni affermatosi sulla scena artistica nazionale ed internazionale.
L idea di attraversamento di un confine, percorsi che stimolano l'immaginario. Il concetto di rotazione è dunque insita nell'espressione "Revolving Boundaries", modellata intorno ad una delle tematiche piu' centrali della trasformazione culturale globale.
"Revolving Boundaries", propone così un'investigazione di un territorio attraverso lo sguardo dello straniero, del viaggiatore di passaggio: con il suo bagaglio culturale ed il suo immaginario personale raccoglierne influssi e suggestioni, significherà attuare un processo di acquisizione di dati e di smantellamento dei cliché finalizzato ad una elaborazione creativa.
Domenico Mangano utilizza come modalità processuale di ricerca la registrazione in presa diretta di esperienze vissute che traduce poi in immagini video e fotografie per lo più presentate in serie sequenziali. La sua indagine unisce - senza distinzione - sociale e privato, contesti lontani e luoghi vicini, gente sconosciuta e persone a cui è legato da rapporti affettivi e svela uno sguardo disincantato su una realtà fatta di normalissima straordinarietà.

“旋转的国界”是由艾可画廊主办并推广的交换艺术家项目的主题。
该项目具体内容为：每年将有两位外籍艺术家前往上海同时派出两名中国艺术家到意大利。他们将会进行定点创作，创作内容为与当地文化密切相关的作品。这些作品将在项目结束后进行公开展出。
Domenico Mangano 是首个应邀前往上海的意大利艺术家，他在国内外艺术节皆享有盛名。
迁移、轮转和演变，这些思维无论是从物质的角度还是从抽象的角度都被“旋转的国界”这一世界文化变迁的主旋律中表达得淋漓尽致，“旋转的国界”旨在通过异国人、旅行者的一瞥中进行孜孜探求。在本土文化与外来的文化视角以及本人的想象力的汇合中，作者将获得灵感与启发，创作出脱俗的佳作。
Domenico Mangano 运用了再现真实经历的创作手法，他把这些经历录制或者拍摄下来并做成系列片。他的作品把社会现象与个人问题，远景与近地，陌生人与作者熟识的人结合起来，展现了一个于平凡中追索卓越，于幻灭中审读现实的视角。
