As curator Emilia Valenza writes: ?“ Hence, our Veronese artist does not accumulate any more objects, but paper of all types: private documents, bills, magazines, newspapers, pictures, drawings of his children, scratches of all kinds, receipts. He works with the technique of ?‘collage' ? la Scwitters , i.e.collecting fragments which document a lived experience. One might think of a form of object consumption of informative-communicative nature, as do Perino and Vele by smashing newspapers for their ?‘sculpted blankets', mass-media in papier mache. Christian's research is in fact much more intimist: he uses his own papers, those that document his everyday life and can still tell of an existence similar to many people's. These traces have a history: they have been kept for seven or ten years, pieces of an archive of the memory, carefully retained according to a strict discipline of expectation, in order for them to become ?‘eternal' in the processes of reordering and upholstering that they will go under through their incorporation into a picture. Here, Rossi's experiences both as restorer and mosaic maker merge together and from this union a new artist is put forth, an artist that manipulates matter, search for its internal patterns, and rearrange them to bring them to a new life, with patience and precision. In an alchemical fashion, layer after layer, collage becomes painting of signs and colors, matter and pigments with emotion playing as the strongest cohesive factor.?” ?
